Burnley vs. Manchester City
Minute Commentary
90' BURNLEY 1-1 MAN CITY
A fascinating game at Turf Moor comes to an end, with the spoils shared - it finishes Burnley 1-1 Manchester City.
90' BURNLEY 1-1 MAN CITY
There are 90 seconds left, Burnley look content with a point and City look fresh out of ideas. Nothing to see here folks.
90' BURNLEY 1-1 MAN CITY
There will be three minutes added on at Turf Moor - time for a twist in what has been an enthralling tale so far?
88' BURNLEY 1-1 MAN CITY
Is there time for Burnley to even go on and win this? Truth be told, despite being second best for the vast majority of this match, they are looking the stronger of the two as we hit the home straight here.
86' BURNLEY 1-1 MAN CITY
Was that really a wise decision from Guardiola? They are chasing a goal and instead of their chief goal-getter, they have the unproven Brahim Diaz on the flank. If City fail to win this now, all the talk will be about Raheem Sterling and his substitution - not what they need as they chase the title.
84' BURNLEY 1-1 MAN CITY
Penny for Raheem Sterlign's thoughts right now? You sensed it was coming and here it is. It is a truly brilliant goal as Matthew Lowton swings in a perfect cross to the back post from the right, where Johann Gudmundsson is arriving late to direct a fabulous half volley beyond Ederson and into the far corner. Turf Moor is bouncing.
82' BURNLEY 1-1 MAN CITY
GOOOAAALLL!!! Johann Gudmundsson has levelled matters for Burnley with a fine close range finish!
80' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
It is Barhim Diaz who comes on for the Citizens for the last ten minutes and his first involvement is to go on a wriggling run down the left-hand side of the box, but he eventually tricks himself and runs the ball out of play.
78' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Is this good man-management? Who am I to question Pep? Raheem Sterling, seconds after that horror miss, is taken off. Whether he was due to be withdrawn we don't know, but that is a hard one to take for the England international.
76' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
All of a sudden, Burnley have been injected with a some life and they are forcing a succession of set pieces, which City are delaing with comfortably enough, but the pressure is beginning to build.
74' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
I was saying earlier on that if Burnley were to get anything from this match, they would need some luck, much like in the week at St James' Park. They have just received a huge slice there - can they make the most of it?
72' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
From arguably save of the season to 100% miss of the season from the usually dead-eyed Raheem Sterling. It is brilliant build-up play as De Bruyne finds Walker down the right with a stunning pass and the full-back delivers a perfect ball for Sterling, two yards out, with an open goal in front of him. Somehow, somehow, the winger prods it wide with his left foot and slams the turf in annoyance and disbelief.
70' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
That is an absolutely stunning save from Ederson, it really is. Burnley think they have scored as they work a lovely move from left to right, culminating in Lennon having a free shot at goal ten yards out from the centre of the box. The former Tottenham and Everton man can't strike it any better and must think he has his first Burnley goal, until Ederson stretches out a big hand to somehow divert it onto the bar. One of the saves of the season.
68' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
This second half has been far less stop-start than the first one was and wer haven't had any substitutions yet either. It surely can't be long before Sean Dyche looks to his options on the bench to try and shift the momentum somewhat?
66' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
The free-kick is whipped in by Johann Gudmundsson, but it is above and beyond everyone and flies behind for a goal kick. Waste.
64' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Burnley get into City's half for the first time in a long while and Gundogan picks up a undeserved yellow card for a tackle on Aaron Lennon, as he clearly got the ball before the man. Chance for the Clarets to put the visitors' defence under pressure.
62' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Wave after wave. The impressive Danilo forces a foul from Charlie Taylor in a dangerous area, but De Bruyne's effort from 25 yards surprisingly only finds the wall.
60' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Nealry a carbon copy of the first goal as Danilo is the man over from a short set piece routine and he bends a delicious shot towards the far top corner, but Pope does well to fling himself over and tip it away.
58' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
This is just relentless from the away side, who are finding space all over the park. A liquid counter attack sees Gundogan pick the ball up just outside the box and he has Sterling waiting to shoot just outside of him with no one near him, but the midfielder's pass just isn't good enough and the chance disappears.
56' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Huge chance, but it goes begging for City. A lovely move from the right-hand side to the centre of the area, where Aguero has Sterling inside of him in acres of room. The youngster has a free shot ten yards out, but the pass was slightly behind him and it costs the visitors dearly as the former Liverpool man can't get enough purchase on his attempt.
54' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
All City. Kyle Walker commits two Burnley players and that opens up room for Silva behind him to find Gundogan on the edge of the box. The German is surprised by the amount of room he has and is eventually crowded out, meaning his shot is blocked behind.
52' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Every time the home side clear a cross, there is a man in a black shirt waiting to pick up the pieces on the edge of the area. That early minute or two aside, there has been no let-up from City coming out for the second period.
50' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
As you were now as City take control of proceedings and nearly find a second. Sergio Aguero goes on one of his mazy, Messi-esque runs across the defence and down the outside of the area, before Sterling takes over and shoots, but it is just about blocked behind by a sea of Burnley bodies.
48' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
A couple of dodgy moments for Vincent Kompany at the start of this second period, with Burnley targeting him from some vicious crosses. There are more attempts from the hosts to get the ball wide quickly and whip some deliveries into the mixer early doors in this half.
46' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Here we go then - we're back up and running at Turf Moor.
45' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
A game that took a little while to get going, due to the physios from both teams seeing more action on the pitch than a lot of the players in the first ten minutes, but when it did get going a real humdinger of a match broke out. Burnley are always nothing if not competitive, especially on their own turf, but City have been a class above for the most part. They looked the better team without really threatening until Danilo found the breakthrough with a gorgeous curled effort following a short corner routine that the hosts didn't deal with nearly well enough. Ben Mee almost responded straight away with a volley on the turn, but Ederson made a fine save. For the rest of the half, the Citizens tore through their opponents on the break, with Kevin de Bruyne popping up all over the place and causing havoc with his every involvement. He tested Nick Pope a couple of times from range and also set up Sergio Aguero for a late chance that the Burnley stopper did well to repel. All to play for in the second 45 minutes - join us for live text commentary in just a couple of moments.
45' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
A very entertaining first 45 minutes comes to a close at Turf Moor, with Man City leading Burnley 1-0.
45' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Just as I say that, though, City come to life. De Bruyne plays a worldie of a ball for Aguero, who has acres of room on the left. The Argentina international is in on goal and shoots from the angle, but Pope stands tall.
45' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Two minutes of added on time remain and City are just indulging in a spot of keep-ball to run the clock down now.
45' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Due to the ever-present nature of the physios early doors in this match, we will have four additional minutes in Lancashire.
45' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Well read by Vincent Kompany as he cuts out a lovely ball forward from Gudmundsson, with the loose ball just about retrieved by Ederson in front of the prowling Ashley Barnes. Barnes who of course could have been in a Chelsea shirt this weekend..... Cough, cough.
44' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Jack Cork is the latest player to become acquainted with the referee's notebook as he pulls De Bruyne for about five seconds before the whistle finally blows as another City counter is thwarted.
42' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
This has got the crowd on their feet as new boy Aaron Lennon, strangely playing on the left for the seemingly the first time in his career, leads Kyle Walker a merry dance before cutting in and releasing a shot that is blocked. That has got Turf Moor going.
40' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Kevin de Bruyne, yet again, picks up the ball in a dangerous position midway into Burnley's half and the Belgian surges forward before unleashing an effort that is parried by Nick Pope. Sergio Aguero is onto the rebound, but he can't sort out his feet in time and it is easy for Pope to gather.
38' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Kevin Long, who Sean Dyche has been at pains to remind people of how good he has been lately, is forced to take one for the team and pick up a booking as Silva charges forward on the counter following a turnover. Pep won't be happy with that intentional hack from behind. We must protect the players and all that.
36' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
The movement of City's front five is simply extraordinary. Aguero is dropping deep one minute, Sterling and Gundogan are tearing in behind, De Bruyne is floating around in between Burnley's defence and midfield and Silva is causing havoc on the right flank - we've seen it all before but it really is something to behold on a weekly basis.
34' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
While the away outfit are looking brilliant going forward, there are still some frailties in that troublesome backline and, provided Burnley don't let in a second, you sense there could be something in this for the Clarets.
32' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Nearly a leveller out of nowhere. A cleared corner is recycled back into the box and Ben Mee beats a flmisy offside trap and has a free shot at goal 12 yards out. The centre-back swivels and aims a difficult volley towards the bottom corner, but Ederson is on hand to dive and parry away. A warning sign for City.
30' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
The visitors are just cutting through Burnley at will here. That man De Bruyne picks up possession in between the lines for approximately the 29,768th time this season and everything is on all of a sudden. He has Sterling and Gundogan for company and those two eventually link up, with the former's stab towards goal from the latter's cross blocked on its way goalwards.
28' BURNLEY 0-1 MAN CITY
Just looking at that goal again, it really is a wonderful effort from Danilo, but Sean Dyche will be desperately disappointed that his side's defensive forces weren't quicker to get out to City's short corner routine. A crucial ten minutes or so coming up for the hosts now.
26' BURNLEY 0 - 1 MAN CITY
Excellent strike from Danilo. De Bruyne takes a short corner from the right to Gundogan. He squares for Danilo who lines up and curls a super shot into the far top corner. Nick Pope had no chance, and he's not happy as no Burnley defender came out to close Danilo down. Super strike though.
23' BURNLEY 0 - 1 MAN CITY
That's the breakthrough. Danilo gives City the lead.
22' BURNLEY 0 - 0 MAN CITY
It's clear that Burnley are going to employ the long diagonal ball and have runners hoping to get on the end of Sam Vokes' flicks. We get a few moments of intense activity and crowd participation on such occasions and when City defend it we descend back to a normal quiet patient game.
18' BURNLEY 0 - 0 MAN CITY
That was close. Kevin be Bruyne takes a short corner, and the ball is worked around the corner of the Burnley box. Bernardo Silva eventually delivers the cross and it skims off the top of Ashley Barnes' head and goes just wide. Kompany clatters into Nick Pope who then needs treatment, and Burnley get a goal kick.
14' BURNLEY 0 - 0 MAN CITY
The game is just beginning to settle down into some form of pattern, and not an unexpected one. The visitors are stroking the ball around comfortably, probing, trying to find the gaps as they apply increasing pressure. Burnley are content to soak up City's possessional dominance and look to hit them with a quick break as and when opportunity arises. Still pretty much sparring in these early stages though.
8' BURNLEY 0 - 0 MAN CITY
Ashley Barnes goes down in midfield. A minute or so treatment and he's back up hobbling. Following a corner to City Sam Vokes and Phil Bardsley are down and again we need a couple of minutes treatment. According to Raheem Sterling it's normally the City players who get butchered. Seven minutes gone and the only real action has come from the trainers.
2' Burnley 0 - 0 Man City
Martin Atkinson blows his whistle and we are underway at Turf Moor.
0' BURNLEY v MANCHESTER CITY
We are just a few minutes from kick-off at Turf Moor, there is an expectation in the crowd and we could be in for one heck of a game. Martin Atkinson will officiate, so join me, Steve Nicholls, for full commentary coming right up.

0' BURNLEY v MANCHESTER CITY
THE LUCK BURNLEY NEEDED? Such is the incredible season that Burnley are enjoying and so unexpectedly lofty is their position in the Premier League table, that not many people paid too much attention to the fact that going into the midweek set of fixtures they had gone eight games without a win. The Clarets were close to another defeat on Wednesday night, but a fortunaate own goal coutesy of Newcastle keeper Karl Darlow secured Sean Dyche's men a much needed point on the road. That should eliminate any doubts that the Burnley players have had although they are going through their first blip of the campaign. But life won't get any easier for them today as Manchester City rock into town, with their sights firmly set on securing a seemingly inevitable league championship as quickly as possible - this afternoon's host may just need some of the luck they enjoyed at St James' Park on Wednesday you feel. CITY COASTERS Much of the talk in the build up to this mattch has concerned Jose Mourinho's concession of the title and the resultant hypothetical scenario where Manchester City secure the title in the derby against United in April. Pep Guardiola has understandably been keen to play down such talk and has reminded everybody that they have one hell of a battle on their hands today at Turf Moor. If any side is equipped to play their way around the tricky and mixed style of Sean Dyche's men though, it is the Citizens. In a nutshell, Guardiola's men have been simply outstanding this term and have batted off serious injury absences with a wave of the hand in recent weeks. Make no mistake, this afternoons visitors are the champions elect looking every inch the complete team and will be as eager as ever to prove that today.
